Born on a dairy farm on the banks of the Rangatikei River, Prout owner Alistair Cuming left school to go shearing when he was 15. Through shearing and leasing farms he saved enough to buy his own farm. (Alistair is still a shearing contractor in the Hunterville Taihape region with teams now run under management).
In 2004, looking for a change of direction and lured by the Hawke’s Bay lifestyle and weather, he purchased Prout and has continued to grow the capability and product range ever since.
Alistair’s natural passion for the outdoors drives his ingenuity in creating new products for a range of diverse uses.
